Under our Corp of Engineers Sacramento IDIQ contract, CYS provided management of the design team and structural engineering services for the 35% design of a new pier to support containerized operations at MOTCO. The project involved the design of a container handling pier for ammunition and explosives, including 35% design of a pile-supported 100,000 SF pier with approach trestles, electrical infrastructure to support container handling cranes, mechanical infrastructure for firefighting and ships services. Structural features included engineering for the pier demolition, structural design of an 1,800 SF on-pier Operations Building with office space, restrooms, and longshoreman’s break room and the mat slab supporting the new electrical transformers.
