Location: Sharpe Army Depot and Tracy AFB, CA
CYS conducted structural evaluations for code-level seismic forces and potential retrofit solutions for both of these Essential Facilities. A rehabilitation scheme installing friction dampers at the cross-braces was explored and demonstrated capable of addressing the deficiencies of the Tracy Water Tower. Potential mitigation alternatives for the Sharpe Army Depot Tower included structural rehabilitation, partial utilization and/or reclassification of the structure as non-essential.
